On April 6th, the Hunterdon Health Auxiliary brought together supporters of Hunterdon Hospice for its signature event, Splash of Sparkle, held at Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club. Guests gathered for an afternoon filled with bubbly, brunch, and giving back—raising $47,000 to support compassionate end-of-life care for patients and families across our region. The event featured a tricky tray raffle with forty winners, a $1,000 Visa gift card drawing, and a mind-bending performance by mentalist Ryan Lally.
One of the most meaningful moments of the afternoon came when Jean Hewens, a longtime friend of hospice, shared her family’s journey. Her husband, Dr. Jeremy Hewens, was a beloved family physician with Hunterdon Family Medicine at Delaware Valley for many years. After suffering a tragic accident over nine years ago and being left with a traumatic brain injury, he has been under hospice care for the past three years. Jean’s willingness to speak candidly about their experience and her ability to find light in the darkest of times left a deep impression on everyone in the room. Her story served as a powerful reminder of just how much hospice care means to the families who need it.
The afternoon concluded with a cash call that sparked generosity across the room. The response was moving, with guests eager to make a difference. Forty lucky winners walked away with raffle baskets filled with prizes and gifts donated by generous local businesses throughout the area. We’re incredibly grateful for the undeniable success of the Hunterdon Health Auxiliary’s efforts and the community’s support of a cause that continues to make a real difference for families across Hunterdon County.
