Hunterdon Medical Center encourages medical student elective rotations in addition to the required MS III rotations in Family Medicine from Rutgers University – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Temple University School of Medicine, and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Our electives have consistently proven stimulating to the students and to our residents. They are open to all students from LCME and AOA-approved schools
Students nationwide have taken this rotation and rated it highly. These students work with the family health center faculty and residents, and work up and follow family practice patients on the family medicine inpatient service. They attend morning report, grand rounds, and residency conferences. Teaching rounds with attending physicians occur daily.
The acting internship is best suited for fourth year students as well as third year students who have completed inpatient medicine and
pediatrics rotations.
Medical students at various levels of training may work with any of our faculty of board-certified, community family physicians. This intimate exposure to family medicine in the “real world” is exciting and rewarding and might occur as early as the first year or second year level. Preceptorships are arranged between the students and the individual physicians.
