Therapy dogs provide emotional support and comfort to patients and staff, reducing stress, anxiety, and pain and improving overall well-being.
The following are Hunterdon Medical Center’s requirements for our Pet Therapy Program:
Proof of Bright & Beautiful or Therapy Dog International, Inc., training and certification.
Copy of Bright & Beautiful or Therapy Dog International, Inc., ID Card.
Proof of Bright & Beautiful or Therapy Dog International, Inc., insurance coverage.
Copy of the Hunterdon Healthcare Therapy Dog Annual Health Record Form to provide current vaccination information for distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus, and rabies.
A minimum of 25 hours of Pet Therapy experience documented at a school, nursing home, or library within a six-month period. Provide copies of documentation.
Three references: Three letters of reference specifying the Pet Therapy Dog’s name. If you have multiple Therapy Dogs applying, each applicant will need his/her own references.
All adults must complete the adult application process as well.
