The Ornish Reversal Program has been offered by the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department since 2015, treating over 250 patients with heart disease. We proudly share that patient outcomes consistently meet and/or exceed the national benchmark for the program.
As of 2023, the Ornish program at Hunterdon Health has been upgraded and streamlined to better meet the needs of potential participants. The program will now meet for three (3) hours, twice each week, for 12 weeks (a total of 72 hours of treatment, education, and counseling) to support a healthier lifestyle.
Dr. Ornish's Program for Reversing Heart Disease® is a nationally-recognized intensive cardiac rehabilitation program proven to prevent, stop and even reverse the progression of heart disease. Hunterdon Health is one of only three host sites in the tri-state area to offer the Ornish Reversal Program®.
The foundation of the Ornish Reversal Program® is the integration of four, equally-weighted elements: fitness, nutrition, stress management and group support. Participants experience the program over the course of 18, four-hour sessions within a small consistent group, who all have the common goal of reversing their heart disease and improving their well-being. The combined effect of all four lifestyle elements makes a transformative difference.
