Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) is a doctor-supervised program for people who have most kinds of heart disease or risk factors for heart disease. Cardiac Rehabilitation has proven effective in aiding patients’ post-event recovery and longer-term health by improving functional capacity, reducing symptoms, promoting heart-healthy choices and creating a sense of well-being. Studies consistently demonstrate reductions in mortality and morbidity, and re-hospitalization. Participation in cardiac rehabilitation decreases the risk that a patient will die in the five years following a heart attack or bypass surgery by about 35 percent.
