Hunterdon Behavioral Health’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a FREE, confidential counseling and referral program to help employees resolve personal problems.
Hunterdon Behavioral Health partners with local companies who offer this service as an employee benefit. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) focuses on early intervention before problems can impact an employee’s job performance.
The EAP is available to employees and their eligible family members, including spouses or partners, children, parents, siblings or other relatives who are members of the employee’s household.
Employees and their families may contact the EAP directly or may be referred by supervisors to resolve job performance issues.
The EAP provides short-term counseling to help employees resolve a wide range of personal issues, including:
The EAP offers the opportunity for the employee to speak confidentially with a professional counselor who will discuss the situation, help identify the problem, and work with the employee to resolve the issue at hand. If necessary, the counselor can refer employees to other appropriate community resources.
Hunterdon Behavioral Health’s Employee Assistance Program offers:
At the initial appointment, the employee will meet with an EAP counselor to discuss the situation. The counselor will collaborate with the employee to develop a personal plan of action to resolve the issue. This plan may include follow-up consultations, if necessary. In some cases, the counselor may refer the employee to other professionals for follow-up.
The EAP counselor will provide feedback to the employer as to whether the employee attended the counseling session and if he or she accepted the counselor’s recommendations.
In many cases, one or two visits with an EAP counselor are sufficient to resolve a problem.
There is no charge for EAP services.
If the EAP counselor recommends additional professional health, the employee’s health insurance may cover most of the cost. However, should additional professional help be required which is not covered by insurance, the EAP counselor will recommend a course of action that is in line with the employee’s ability to pay. Getting effective health is always a good investment.
