We are pleased to announce our October 2024 Employee of the Month is Amelia Ortman, Therapist, Hunterdon Behavioral Health, Adolescent IOP.
Here are just a few highlights from Amelia’s nominations:
· Amelia is always ready to jump into work head first. She is always motivated and helpful in our rebranding and marketing of Adolescent IOP and is able to adapt to the needs of the program.
· Amelia is prompt in arriving to work, willing to stay late, and always seeks the help of a supervisor in appropriate situations. Whatever the current census or caseload of the program, Amelia aids in adapting the topics and helping others in the program by individualizing each aspect of treatment. This allows us to best serve our clients.
· Amelia is extremely authentic and enthusiastic in her position. She believes that being her authentic self will allow for the best growth for all clients. Authenticity is key to being an ethical, impactful counselor.
· Amelia exudes kindness towards all staff, clients, and clients’ families. She is inclusive of others who work at HBH and of the clients in the program.
· Amelia is collaborative as she makes sure to discuss any changes or updates with supervisors and others within the program. One thing she often says in our weekly supervision meeting is how she "wants to make this program the absolute best it can be." Amelia is committed to the success of the program and organization. It comes from within, her pride, drive and determination.
· Amelia is empowered as she is supported within the HBH organization. Her vision is to help grow the program, help adolescent clients and their families, and to empower clients to help themselves through the practice of AIOP counseling.
· Specific examples:
1. Amelia helped create a list of local schools, counselors, and other resources to send out marketing emails to aid in rebuilding a census.
2. She jumped into assessments within the first 2-4 weeks of her position.
3. She avoids any consistent absences on Mondays - this is crucial as this is the family night of the program (she did this without being asked and it is appreciated).
4. She shares honestly with supervisors and asks directly for feedback to grow as a counselor and employee at HBH.
5. She aided in creating a curriculum for family nights to grow and improve the program and increase creativity.
6. She feels comfortable jumping in and helping recreate the brochure for the program and program flyers.
7. She is helpful in redecorating the group room to improve the aesthetic of the room to create a more welcoming and warm environment.
8. Amelia actively assists in building relationships with other departments in conjunction with her supervisors, answering questions and providing support.
9. When DH/CBR required help, Amelia did not question it and offered multiple times to aid their group sessions.
Congratulations, Amelia!
