Hunterdon Hospice will offer its Volunteer Training Program on four consecutive Mondays: September 16, 23, 30 & October 7, from 10 am - 1 pm. Classes will take place at the offices of Hunterdon Hospice, located at 215 Route 31 South in Flemington.
“Hunterdon Hospice volunteers are needed for patient and family support, office support, fundraising and community awareness events. Additionally, we welcome those with skills in cosmetology, massage, Reiki, music, and pet therapy to help support the complimentary services we provide,” explained Kim Kelleher, Manager of Business Development and Volunteers.
Training to become a Hunterdon Hospice volunteer is a unique and meaningful experience. This multi-week course is designed to educate and train participants to fulfill various roles. Training consists of 12 hours in person and four hours of independent study. Content includes the history of Hospice in America, the history of Hunterdon Hospice in our community, the services provided by Hunterdon Hospice, and the skills needed to volunteer. Volunteers must have medical clearance from their physician, a criminal background check, and an annual influenza vaccine (or medical exemption from a physician). The background check and annual vaccine are provided at no cost to the volunteer.
