Our nursing staff can draw blood and perform a limited number of lab tests at our office. They also perform electrocardiograms and pulmonary function tests. Some patients prefer to go directly to one of the commercial laboratories.
Results of laboratory studies are usually available within two to three days. Pap smear reports may take a week or longer.
Some laboratory studies require that the patient be fasting, which means that no food or beverage (other than water) should be taken eight to twelve hours prior to testing. If you are scheduled for a morning examination, you may wish to come in fasting so that if these tests are indicated they may be done at that time.
Our office works with Hunterdon Medical Center’s Laboratory. Please check your insurance to see which labs are in-network to avoid extra charges.
