It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our alumni newsletter. The Hunterdon Family Medicine Residency boasts a rich legacy and tradition of excellence in graduate medical education. From its inception, our founders envisioned Hunterdon as an educational center, committed to being more than just a community hospital. The education of family physicians has been at the heart of our mission and continues to shape the vision of the Hunterdon Health System today.
Over the years, our residency program has been recognized for its innovation and significant impact on healthcare and graduate medical education, both locally and nationally. Notable milestones include the pioneering resident scholarly activity in evidence-based medicine by Drs. Stephen Carlson and Paul Frame in 1974, which helped lay the groundwork for the future U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Additionally, the Night Float system, initiated by Dr. John Zapp, has become a nationally accepted model to reduce resident fatigue. The contributions of Drs. Hershey Bell and Stanley Kozakowski in developing competency frameworks are now national standards for medical education. We are incredibly proud of our over 300 alumni and the diverse paths they have forged in their careers. Thank you for allowing us to stay connected and share our enthusiasm as we continue to promote and grow together.
Warm regards,

Family Medicine at Delaware Valley
Dear Alumni,
As the Medical Director of Delaware Valley Health Center (Del Val), I am thrilled to share some updates with you. Since opening in an old mill house in 1974 and moving to our current modern facility in 1988, we have remained dedicated to serving the needs of our community. Our commitment to excellence was further demonstrated in 2018 when we managed to add a few more exam rooms through renovations, all without expanding our footprint.
Today, we continue to provide comprehensive family medicine, including inpatient and obstetrical care, as well as school health services seven days a week. Over the past 50 years, we have had the privilege of teaching hundreds of students and residents, many of whom still practice in Hunterdon County. We’re excited to announce the expansion of our services to include Acupuncture, Osteopathic Manipulation Techniques, Integrative Medicine, and a variety of office-based procedures in dermatology, musculoskeletal health, and gynecology. Additionally, our team continues to showcase its creativity and teamwork by participating in the annual Milford Alive Bed Race, where we’ve consistently earned trophies for our efforts. We invite you to join us next year for this fun and spirited event!
Warm regards,
Carla Jardim, MD
